It’s always an honour for McKenzie & Willis to get behind our local communities and charities. When we were approached by Jamie Kay to help style the photoshoot for their Child Cancer Foundation fundraising initiative we were delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause.
There is synergy between our brands with a focus on considered edits, high quality luxurious materials with style and customer care at the fore. Jamie Kay’s founder and director Jamie Fridd is a McKenzie & Willis customer; we styled her beautiful home in Christchurch and featured it in one of our recent blogs.
About Jamie Kay
The Jamie Kay story started with organic cot blankets, and the brand has quickly grown to include organic clothing, footwear, and swimwear for newborns up to children aged ten. Each piece is designed from their studio in Christchurch and carefully considered to ensure their designs are not only exquisite but the quality is exceptional and perfect for little ones.
What does this fundraising initiative involve?
Jamie Kay has commissioned a beautiful woodland dreams print by New Zealand artist Olivia Bezett, featured on these special organic blend pyjamas. 100 per cent of proceeds will go directly to Child Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. “Last Christmas we were able to donate $25,000, this year we are setting the goal higher with the hopes of donating $100,000.” The initiative was hugely successful with the limited edition pyjamas selling out in just 90 minutes which was an incredible achievement. Jamie said, “We had such a great day. We made $100,000 in one hour and a half for Child Cancer Foundation. They were blown away!”
McKenzie & Willis donated the linen used in this dreamy woodland photoshoot for Jamie Kay’s launch of the special edition pyjamas to raise funds for the Child Cancer Foundation. The sheets, quilt, throws, and pillows will be auctioned to raise further proceeds for Child Cancer Foundation. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for details.
Why is this cause important to Jamie Kay?
“The Child Cancer Foundation holds a very special place in our hearts here at Jamie Kay. With our own head of creative’s daughter Frankie having been through treatment for Leukemia from the age of 3 to 5 years and again at 6 years. Having most recently undergone a bone marrow transplant, we know the amount of strength it takes to get a family through this treatment. The Child Cancer Foundation supports hundreds of families throughout New Zealand who find themselves on this incredibly heart-breaking journey through child cancer.”
