All metal elements should be powder-coated aluminium as this will not rust. The powder coating protects a very tough metal core – think of aluminium window frames! For extra durability look for pieces that have been double-baked.

If it has timber elements- what type of timber is it?

The number one wood for outdoor furniture is teak. Teak needs little maintenance because of its high oil content and exceptional weather resistant qualities. It’s important to also check the grade of teak used. Higher grades of teak (B and above) are far superior in terms of looks and will weather the elements better.
