In recent years, the topic of sustainability has gained momentum. All over the globe, communities are taking steps to reduce their environmental impact. As we collectively aim to reduce, reuse and recycle, progressive brands like Sheridan are taking action.
We caught up with Sheridan to find out more about their focus on sustainability, their goals for the future and what steps they are taking to ensure an ethical and sustainable supply chain.
These sheet sets are GOTS certified, which is internationally acknowledged as the leading textile processing standard for organic fibres. They have been crafted to the highest possible standard, ensuring organic status from harvesting, right through to environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing and labelling.
What goals does Sheridan have for a sustainable future?
We are proud to have announced a set of sustainability goals earlier this year. Our goals include packaging and recycling initiatives, as well as ethical sourcing practices and goals within our SleepSafe initiative.
Sheridan has always been synonymous with quality. Can you elaborate on how this ties in with your commitment to sustainability?
Sheridan was founded by a passionate environmentalist, Claudio Alcorso. Our sustainability journey started from day one, and our enduring reputation for quality was founded on his belief that products must be designed to last, and last beautifully. The essence of sustainability is products that last a lifetime, and that is what Sheridan delivers.
How is Sheridan making their packaging more sustainable?
We are continually making our packaging more sustainable and our vision is that all Sheridan products will be free from all unnecessary packaging. We have already eliminated 100 tonnes of cardboard from our packaging in the last 12 months, and we are eliminating PVC or replacing it with LDPE.
Tell us a bit about how Sheridan is ensuring an ethical and sustainable supply chain?
We are deeply committed to ensuring sustainability is embedded across the breadth and depth of our supply chain. Our Global Code of Conduct, Global Standards for Suppliers and the Global Human Rights policy drive the expectations we set for all of our owned and contractor facilities. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards and expect no less from our partners. When it comes to social compliance each of our facilities are audited one to two times per year. Our goal is to work with facilities to drive continuous improvement, however we will stop doing business with a factory if they fail to correct deficiencies in a timely manner.
