There are few things more welcoming than a well thought out guest bedroom. Create a sumptuous and inviting guest bedroom with these 5 essential tips.

1) A Great Bed
First and foremost, a great bed is key to creating a sanctuary for your guests. Your guests will have different preferences in terms of comfort levels so it’s best to go with a mattress that sits somewhere in the middle – not too soft and not too firm. Consider a bed with low partner disturbance as your guests will likely be weary after a day of activities.McW Dot Button browse beds

2) A Well-stocked Bedside Table
Although being on holiday is great, your guests may be missing the creature comforts of home. Alleviate this and score some serious host brownie points with a well-stocked bedside table. Choose bedside tables that fit with the feel of the room and ensure they have at least one drawer for your guests’ personal items. Add a vase of flowers to brighten the room and bring a little bit of nature in. You can also create a kit of essentials – think bottled water, tissues, a magazine or even some mints. Don’t forget to leave the WIFI password out on the bedside table – trust us your guest will love you for it! See our range of beside tables here.

3) Black-out Curtains
Jet-lagged guests arriving from a late flight will appreciate the opportunity to sleep in and there is no better way to ensure this than by using curtains with black-out lining. Make sure you hang your curtains at least 10cm above the window and right down to the floor to minimise the amount of light and to create a luxury feel. For an extra sophisticated look try having your curtains puddling on the floor.

4) Select the right combination of bedlinen and cushions
You can achieve an inviting and sumptuous look to your guest bed by combining beautifully embroidered prints with luxurious touches of velvet and linen. To recreate the look above, try the Bianca Lorenne Ricamo Bedspread with the Bianca Lorenne Vernice Comforter.

Make sure your guests sleep in comfort by selecting a high quality sheet set and try to include a couple of options for pillows – remembering that everyone has different preferences. With this in mind you can ensure your guests will have a good night’s sleep. Click here to view our range of bedlinen.

Don’t forget to finish the look with a few throw cushions. A word of warning though – have too many and it can feel like a chore just to get into bed! The right amount of cushions lay somewhere between two and six and will depend on the look you are going for. Select cushions that feel cohesive but be sure to mix it up with texture, scale and prints. You can even choose a selection of custom-designed cushions for a unique and tailored look. 5) Fluffy Towels and Toiletries
A fluffy towel is the finishing touch in a guest bedroom and core to making your guests feel at home. Select high quality towels that fit in with the colours of the bedroom, such as the Christy Hygro towels from Seneca. Make sure you follow the care instructions and use as little detergent as possible (towels can feel stiff because of a build-up of soapy residue). Go the extra mile and leave your guests with a small selection of bathroom toiletries. Invest in some mini containers and fill with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. These touches won’t go unnoticed!
